| After my debacle of gouging my new Mattz rotor's top hat by putting the pads with wear indicators on the outside of the rotor vs the inside, I went back this afternoon and swapped the pads to the correct side. Taking a really close look at it after the install, I'm still not sure this is going to work as designed. Took me about a million tries to get this shot just right, but looking through the gaps in the outside of the rotor to the wear indicators on the back side, it's apparent that the wear indicator will barely touch the inside surface once the pad wears down:
Maybe this will be enough (and I won't know until I get there), but since the back side of the rotor doesn't go as close to the hub as the stock rotor (for weight savings, I presume), there is not a full surface there for the wear indicator to make contact. Thanks for everyone's feedback, it's very much appreciated. It makes total sense now why the wear indicator should be on the back, but now I'm not sure it will work correctly on Mattz's rotor.
